my books

Recently Catherine and I took a table at the Leeds International Artist's Book Fair.
'Twas very good fun and we sold stuff and met some great folks and generally had a rather nice time.
The work I exhibited was a series of 'Nestbooks.' These are handmade felt shapes with found and printed text inside. (Photos are close to actual size)

So here are some images of the books I made recently. This one is one of a series of ten made using text taken (literally) from Rosamund Miles' The Women's History of the World.

In 2007 and I saw an advert in the FT about the Women's Forum, an organisation that aims to promote women's "economic and social" voice. The sponsors of the Women's Forum are companies like Cartier, Club Med, Orange phones etc. I think they only want to promote the rights of women because they can make more money if 51% of the world's population are able to earn sensible wages!

Snow White is a small A6 book, really a kind of poem, playing with the refrain of the story. Stitched silk on front. All text typewritten.

" Hair black as ebony, skin white as snow, lips red as blood
Skin black as ebony, lips white as snow, hair red as blood
Lips black as ebony, hair white as snow, skin red as blood"

p.s. i am really liking this current background color. the text color and size are really easy to read on it too. excited to see new things going on here and also your new writing blog!
